ORGANIZATIONS

American Association of Petroleum Geologists - "Currently the world's largest professional geological society with over 30,000 members, AAPG provides publications, conferences, and educational opportunities to geoscientists and disseminates the most current geological information available to the general public."

Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists - "Valuable information regarding licensing of Geoscientists in Texas. By rule, Geoscientists licensed by the Board include Geologists, Geophysicists and Soil Scientists."

American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) - AIPG presently has more than 4,800 members in the U.S. and abroad, organized into 36 regional Sections. The Institute adheres to the principles of professional responsibility and public service and is the only international organization that certifies the competence and ethical conduct of geological scientists in all branches of the science with members employed in industry, government, and academia.

Austin Geological Society - The objectives of the society are; to stimulate interest and promote advancement in the geosciences, to disseminate and facilitate discussion of geological information, to enhance professional interaction among geoscientists, and to aid and encourage academic training in the geosciences.

GOVERNMENTAL AND REGULATORY

Energy Information Administration - EIA’s focus is on data and statistics regarding energy reserves, production, and consumption. It collects, analyzes, and distributes data provided by energy producers, and predicts trends in energy production and use.

Environmental Protection Agency - Coalbed Methane Outreach Program - Web site serves as a resource portal to the broader world of coalbed methane (CBM) and coal mine methane (CMM) development and use. A very informative Website with an on-line library and tools.

Railroad Commission of Texas - The Railroad Commission of Texas is the oldest regulatory agency in the state and one of the oldest of its kind in the nation. A pioneer in rail regulation, the Railroad Commission has four regulatory divisions that oversee the Texas oil and gas industry, gas utilities, pipeline and rail safety, safety in the liquefied petroleum gas industry, and the surface mining of coal and uranium.
